Because of its high radiopacity, Retrieve™ DC helps to reduce the possibility of implant failure due to peri-implantitis. With less radiopaque cements the excess cement that extrudes subgingivally during restoration seating is often not removed because the clinician isn’t aware it is there. Now, with Retrieve’s 300% times aluminum radiopacity a post insertion x-ray can help to locate this excess flash.

Q. What type of cement is Retrieve DC?

A. Retrieve DC is a long-term, dual-cure, provisional resin cement for implant retained crowns and bridges.

A. No

Q. What are the benefits of Retrieve DC when compared to other cements?

A. Retrieve DC was specifically formulated to address the unique requirements of cementing prosthodontic restorations to implant abutments. Stronger than temporary cements, yet less retentive than permanent cements, Retrieve DC has the ability to provide long-term cementation of implant restorations, while allowing for the the removal of these restorations when placed on a properly lubricated abutment.

Q. How do I know when I should lubricate an implant abutment?

A. As a rule, you should consider lubricating all preps that you deem candidates for future crown removal.

Q. What should I lubricate the implant abutment with prior to cementation of a crown with Retrieve DC?

A. Water-based lubricants or glycerin are recommended.

Q. How much lubrication is necessary?

A. It depends on the height and taper of the abutment. As the resistance and retention form of the implant abutment increases the greater the need for increasing the percentage of the abutment surface that must be lubricated. Prior to cementation coat at least 50% of the coronal portion of the implant abutment head with lubricant. In some cases, up to 75% of the abutment surface may require lubrication for the restoration to be removed successfully. When lubricating an abutment, begin at the occlusal/incisal surface and apply the chosen lubricant down the walls of the abutment to the appropriate level. To create a tight marginal seal, do not lubricate the margins. This should give good retention, while allowing removal of the prosthesis later.

Q. Will I be able to remove a crown if I forget to lubricate the abutment first?

A. It depends. If the abutment has long parallel walls, a crown cemented without previously lubricating the preparation will probably be very difficult, if not impossible to remove without damage to the crown, the implant abutment, or both. Crowns cemented on shorter abutments may be removable with some effort.

Q. Is Retrieve DC radiopaque?

A. Yes, Retrieve DC is highly radiopaque, (300% of Aluminum). Because of its high radiopacity Retrieve DC helps to reduce the possibility of implant failure due to peri-implantitis. A post implant x-ray can help identify excess flash for easier removal.

Q. Can I use Retrieve DC on natural teeth?

A. Retrieve DC was developed specifically for use with implants. For short-term cementation on natural teeth, we recommend Parkell’s ETC (Easy Temporary Cement).

Q. How is Retrieve DC dispensed?

A. Retrieve DC is hand dispensed from an automix, dual-barrel syringe through single use, disposable mixing tips. No gun is required.
