Like all piezo scalers, the TurboPIEZO is powered by vibrating quartz plates in the handpiece instead of a vibrating metal stacks on the back of the insert.

In the TurboPIEZO (above) the oscillation is provided by vibrating quartz plates built into the handpiece. In the TurboSENSOR (below), oscillation is provided by a stack of vibrating metal strips on the back of the removable insert.

As a result, the PIEZO is quieter and generates less heat than the traditional magnetostrictive design. You can use the piezo with minimal water flow, or even no water flow at all (not that we recommend it!).
