An intuitive graphical display

When the tip of your instrument approaches the foramen, the graphical display suddenly illuminates. Green lights begin tracking your progress down the canal. When you get really close to the apical constriction, the lights switch to yellow to indicate "caution." When the tracking light flashes red, stop instrumenting! You've reached the point for obturation.

If you ignore the readout and continue instrumenting, orange tracking lights warn you that you've penetrated the apex.

Incidentally, you don't have to glance repeatedly at the device as you work, because the Foramatron supplements the visual display with 4 distinct audio signals (signifying "far short", "getting close", "apex" and "too far"). The adjustable volume can also be turned down.
