As you know, apex locators can be real time savers and they reduce the need for multiple radiographs. But they can be expensive if they aren't from Parkell. The Foramatron® D10 is the next generation of Apex Locator and you won't have to re-finance your home to own one. It uses high and low frequency bands to pinpoint the apical constriction...even in canals contaminated with blood or conductive electrolyte like sodium hypochlorite or anesthetic solution. An intuitive graphical display When the tip of your instrument approaches the foramen, the graphical display suddenly illuminates. Green lights begin tracking your progress down the canal. When you get really close to the apical constriction, the lights switch to yellow to indicate "caution." When the tracking light flashes red, stop instrumenting! You've reached the point for obturation. If you ignore the readout and continue instrumenting, orange tracking lights warn you that you've penetrated the apex. Incidentally, you don't have to glance repeatedly at the device as you work, because the Foramatron supplements the visual display with 4 distinct audio signals (signifying "far short", "getting close", "apex" and "too far"). The adjustable volume can also be turned down. The new Foramatron delivers accurate apex location ... consistently ... at a price you won't believe. And you get the opportunity to "test drive" it for 90 days, right in your own practice. If for any reason you don't like the device during that period, just send it back and Parkell refunds all your money.
