A stronger core resists flexing
Today's metal-free esthetic crowns demand a stiff supporting core. Even the smallest amount of flex can cause a fragile crown to craze or crack. That's why we made Absolute Dentin with 75% fluoride/barium glass. It not only provides strong, stable support for your restorations, it's radiopaque so you can see it on x-rays, too. How strong is it? Absolute Dentin has a flexural strength rating of 172MPa and that's about 40% stronger than Build-IT®'s 120Mpa. How about compressive strength? Absolute Dentin comes in at 289MPa.

Dual Cure for Convenience
Absolute Dentin is a true dual-cure material. It's made with both auto- and photo-initiators to give you a choice. If you simply express it onto a tooth and leave it alone, it self-cures completely in 4 minutes. If you're looking to move things along, hit it with a light and it cures in about 40 seconds. What's more, Absolute Dentin isn't runny. So it stays where you express it, without slumping or distortion.

Cuts Like Dentin
Too many core build-up materials cure significantly softer than dentin. As a result, your diamond may jack-rabbit at the transition from tooth to core. The result is an annoying ditch or jagged, irregular surface. Absolute Dentin cures to a Barcol hardness of 72. Not by accident, that is the typical hardness of dentin. So your bur glides smoothly as you go from dentin to Absolute Dentin and back again. And that's important in the tight spaces where the way something feels and cuts is as important as what you can see.

Pick Your Shade
Sometimes you want a clear, visual distinction between tooth and core. Absolute Dentin Blue or Arctic White are the materials of choice. They contrast nicely with natural dentin, so you can see at a glance that your crown prep extends a good millimeter or two onto the tooth. At other times,
you'll want to use Absolute Dentin Tooth Shade, especially with highly translucent cosmetic crowns. It's approximately A3 to eliminate any possibility of show through.

Automix Makes It Easy to Use
With Absolute Dentin, there's no need to hand mix. It comes together in the mixing tip, perfectly blended, perfectly proportioned every time, with no air bubbles, no voids, no gaps. Which leads to another important consideration…

Maximized Working Time
Mixing takes time but with Absolute Dentin, you simply express it where you want it in the quantity you want using the intra-oral mixing tip. So you get more time to shape it once it's in place. And then there's the matter of cost. The chart shows the difference pretty dramatically on a cost-per-gram basis. Some of the competition clocks in at an eye-opening $8.50 per gram. At the other end of the price chart, Build-IT comes in at $1.30 per gram. Until you get to Absolute Dentin. It comes in at just 99¢ per gram, a whopping 31% less than Build-IT.

Do You Know What You're Paying for Your Cores?

If cost were the prime consideration, Absolute Dentin wins hands down. But then, factor in the strength, the hardness, the ease of use and there's simply no contest.
